Rocky Mountain National Park Weather Forecast
A typical summertime weather pattern consisting of warm temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms occurred over the past week across RMNP.

Week in Review
The best weather days for more committing outings occurred on days when vertically integrated water vapor (IWV) values dropped near or below 0.7 cm at 12 kft. Thursday, 8/18 was one such day.
Scattered but locally intense thunderstorms lurked about on days when IWV exceeded 1.25 cm, e.g., Friday, 8/19.
IWV forecasts can be accessed here.

Our view from Lambslide across the lower east face and Chasm View Wall on Aug. 14th, 2011 on what will likely be our final ski descent of the summer season on Longs Peak. Broadway was still showing these snow patches on the northern end and we didn't see the sun all day on this overcast and breezy venture.

The Upcoming Week
Deep anti-cyclonic flow centered near the southern CO border will allow subtropical moisture to stream across the Park from AZ and NM.
These elevated levels of moisture, with 12kft IWV remaining near or above 1.0 cm, will provide enough fuel to maintain the afternoon-thunderstorm cycle over the next week.
The passage of a westerly wave to the north on Tuesday 8/30 may usher in enough drier air to temporarily suppress the thunderstorm activity.
