If you haven't heard already, the annual Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highlands Festival is one of the best in the country, especially as it's set in the spectacular highlands of Estes Park. We can't recommend enough spending at least a day (Saturday is often the highest energy) enjoying the multitude of events from caber tossing, to intimate and frenetic music venues, dancing competitions, medieval sports, dog shows, Guinness on tap, and all happening at once in the high altitude, early autumn sunshine that make this a truly special event.
A one-day gate pass is only $20 purchased in advance which leaves cash in the pocket for a few pints and sips of old whiskey, freshly grilled leg of turkey, funnel cake, and the option of buying your own kilt. Combined with a day at Lumpy or in the high peaks of RMNP and we're talking 'ultimate climbing weekend'...IMHO.
