Adventurer Jason Lewis in Estes

Scheduled on May 15, 2010

jason lewis adventurer
The Adventurists, an English organization known for coordinating the world’s most extreme expeditions, are sponsoring their first
afternoon tea event in America with Jason Lewis, the globetrotter who spent thirteen years circumnavigating the world by human power alone.

Jason will be describing his incredible journey tackling 45,000 miles across five continents, two oceans and one sea without any motors or sails. During his successful mission, called Expedition 360, he pedalled, biked, ran, kayaked and skated around the world; the first person ever to accomplish such a feat. This opportunity to meet the organisers of the world's craziest adventures, ask Jason questions about his circumnavigation and meet fellow adventurists over tea is one not to be missed.

There will also be an exclusive screening of Wild Rides, the forthcoming National Geographic TV show featuring The Adventurists' Mongol Rally and Rickshaw Run. World-class explorers such as Benedict Allen, Nick Danziger and now Jason Lewis speak about their endeavours in this global series of adventuresome gatherings. So far tea has been taken in England and Spain, with this being the first foray into Earl Grey and scones in America.

The Adventurists (www.theadventurists.com) have been concocting carefully crafted nuggets of adventuring wildness since 2004. Foremost among these is the mighty Mongol Rally, a mere 10,000 miles of the world's hardest terrain with a car more suited to the weekly shop, and for which over 1000 folk are already signed up for the 2010 edition. The Rickshaw Run, Mongol Derby, Africa Rally and Mototaxi Junket make up their collection of international adventures.

All these events are about having a grand adventure whilst at the same time raising large sums of cash for charity. This year alone the Mongol Rally will raise £500,000 for charity, and the Rickshaw Run raises close to £300,000 a year for charitable projects in India and Nepal. We organize what we like to think are proper adventures, the sort where you have to use your own cunning; no guides, no rules and only a small chance of making it to the other end with all your limbs.

Expedition 360 (www.expedition360.com) was a successful attempt to be the first to truly circumnavigate the world. Bicycles, in-line skates, kayaks, swimming, rowing, and a unique pedal powered boat were used by Jason Lewis and an international team to travel over 45,000 miles across five continents, two oceans and one sea (1994 - 2007).

For all details about the event, how to get tickets and event timings please see The Afternoon Tea Website.

Tickets are $10 in advance from the website or $15 on the door. This includes music from the Mustache Band, FREE Hendricks gin and croquet!
