Sunrise over the Twin Sisters from the east face of Longs Peak, Aug. 4th, 2010.

There was water running down most surfaces on the east face including the usually dry Yellow Wall. There were piles of fresh snow and hail in many places on the trail and below the North Face and the trails were covered with running water from what must have been a raging storm for most of the night on Aug. 3rd- we arrived at the Chasm View Raps before sunrise on the 4th.

The summer monsoon pattern is running strong up here and how long it will continue is unknown. Until there are a few days of dry, warm weather it is unlikely many of the pitches on the Diamond will dry out anytime soon. Hopefully all of this water will potentially re-fill the aquifers and lead to a good ice season in RMNP this winter as we've been hurt by dry conditions the past few years.

Chasm Lake and the bottom edge of the Lambslide (right bottom) at sunrise on Aug. 4th, 2010. There looked to be just snow in the Lambslide and with all of the recent rain, sturdy crampons will be necessary for solid footing in this neve' snow.
