The West Face of Longs Peak (14,259') reflecting another sunset.

Longs Peak is the highest point in Rocky Mountain National Park and its west face is the route of choice to the summit in the winter months when avalanche danger and loose snow make the north and east face routes too dangerous for most of the season. Accessed via Glacier Gorge, the wide valley at its base, the 6 mile approach and 5,000' elevation gain from the trailhead to the summit makes for a good challenge and one of the best mid-winter ascents of a "14er" in Colorado.
