The Diamond 'east face' of Longs Peak shines in the morning sunrise on August 21st, 2009.
The Diamond is one of the highest elevation and most vertical rock walls in North America and as it is composed of mostly stellar granite across it's broad face, this is one of the premier rock climbing destinations for those who want one of the greater challenges in the climbing world.
Many of the best climbers in the world, including Tommy Caldwell, Roger Briggs, and Topher Donahue have cut their 'climbing teeth' on this great alpine wall and the challenges they confronted still remain the same: steep granite, thin air, and fast-moving storms in one of North America's grandest alpine settings on Colorado's northern-most 14er.
