Making first tracks below The Throne following a two foot dump on the second day of our 2010 Alaska Ski Mountaineering Trip.

Our annual pilgrimage to the Powder Mecca of Alaska was a success and if anything, we were a bit hampered by too much powder as more than 5 feet of fresh snow fell from the sky during our week-long stay on the Pika Glacier.  We managed to fly-out at our expected time but only after stomping down a 900' long runway for the ski plane to make it's landing.

Eli will be returning in June to lead our Alaska Alpine Rock Expedition where a small group of climbers will be making ascents of multi-pitch rock routes in this "Bugaboos of the Alaska Range".  The Throne is one of the many towers in this amazing cirque that we plan on climbing during this week-long climbing trip.
